About Solid wood beds

Solid wood bed frames, made by hand in Europe

Our beds are crafted using solid wood, with cherry wood playing a central role in our collection. Some parts may be made of veneer or other wood-based materials, and the exact wood and finish of your bed are always confirmed in your quotation. The wood gives a bed weight, warmth and natural character, and each of our handmade wooden beds is built around the size and finish you choose.

Our collections include Directoire, with clean lines; Louis Philippe, with flowing lines and curved headboards; Ermitage, Empire-inspired and on several models finished with woven detailing; and Indochine, with soft curves and turned details. Together they make a range of traditional beds for very different bedrooms.

Made to your size

Every bed is made to measure, so the size is yours to decide. All UK mattress sizes are possible on request: single (90 × 190 cm), small double (120 × 190 cm), double (135 × 190 cm), king (150 × 200 cm) and super king (180 × 200 cm). The same goes for US sizes: twin (97 × 191 cm), full (137 × 191 cm), queen (152 × 203 cm), king (193 × 203 cm) and California king (183 × 213 cm). One exception: the Darjeeling four-poster bed is made for mattresses of 120 cm wide or more.

These are mattress sizes. The outer dimensions of the bed frame can differ from them, so we confirm those separately, together with any difference in price and delivery time, in your quotation. Looking for a super king solid wood bed frame or a king size solid wood bed? Both are possible, as are a solid wood double bed frame and a solid wood single bed for a guest room. US sizes are possible too, for example a solid wood queen bed frame. Tell us which mattress you have in mind and we will work from there.

From natural wood to hand-painted

Choose from 27 colours and wood tones: natural wood tones that show the real grain of the wood, and hand-painted colours from soft neutrals to deep accent colours. Opaque colours such as white, cream and black show little or none of the natural grain. Our wood colours and finishes page shows the full range, and wood and colour samples can be requested if you would like to judge them at home.

Bespoke options on request

Some wishes go beyond size and colour, such as an upholstered headboard or storage. These are possible on request and quoted individually, and they are not standard on every model. Our bespoke service explains how this works.

Matching bedroom furniture

A bed looks best as part of a bedroom, and our handcrafted bedroom furniture follows the same styles. For our Directoire, Louis Philippe, Ermitage and Indochine beds we can make bedside tables, chests of drawers and wardrobes to measure, in the style of the bed and in your choice of colour and finish. Several pieces are already in our collections, such as bedside tables and chests of drawers in Directoire, Ermitage and Indochine, chests of drawers in Louis Philippe and wardrobes in Directoire.

How ordering works

We begin with a conversation about your room and the bed you have in mind. From that we put together a quotation with the size, wood, finish and delivery time. Once you agree, your bed is made to order. The usual delivery time is 10–14 weeks. You are welcome in our showroom in Oldenzaal, or use the form below for no-obligation advice.
